Washing the New Year

Hope everyone had a safe and merry holidays!.  Going to kick in the new year by doing……..laundry.  Boooo, is what most of you would say…

Capturing some significant sales over extended Boxing week, we decided to pick up a much needed washer and dryer.  Received great professional service at a local store and not only was the delivery call narrowed down to a 4 hour window via phone call, but they also called again one hour prior!  What service! (PM me for details if you want to know more).

Previously owning a energy star top-loading washer, a front loading washer has a significant advantage of saving approximately 35-50% of water use.  Not only are you saving on water but significant energy use as well.  The dryer would also save energy (even though ALL dryers are not energy star rated) via a built moisture sensor, ie the dryer will automatically stop when clothes are dry.  Both the washer and dryer are quiet enough to have a phone conversation a foot away from the machine.  Great!   Another bonus is that the Alberta government is providing $100 (for replacing your old washer with a government approved washer ) until funding supplies last.   Information can be found here.  http://www.climatechangecentral.com/my-rebates/clothes_washer.  According to their info, the pay back period is within 5 years of upgrading your washer.  More reason to recycle your old machine.  I was informed as part in stores purchase, your old machine would be carefully stripped apart and parts recycled…ie no dumping at the local landfill.  Double bonus…or is that triple? Anyways, take some time to invest in a front loader if you haven’t done so and happy washing.
